All non-resident travellers are banned from entering Australia. Foreign nationals, including immediate family members of an Australian citizen or permanent resident who do not hold a valid Partner visa, are required to apply online for an exemption prior to entering the country. Exemptions are granted at the discretion of the Commissioner of the Australian Border Force.

There are two forms that need to be filled out and signed. The application, Form 1419, and the authorization, Form 956a. BOTH ARE REQUIRED.

Additional required documents for minors (under 18)
1. If you are younger than 18 years of age: evidence that every person with a legal right to decide where you live consents to your travel to Australia on this visa. If one or both parents are not coming with you, provide:
• a statutory declaration giving their permission. The declaration form can be found here.
• Form 1229 Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years. If you use this form, you will have to attach a certified copy of your parent’s or guardian’s government-issued identification document (such as a passport or drivers licence) with their photograph and their signature. This form can be found here.
2. If you are younger than 18 years of age and you will stay in Australia: with someone other than a parent, legal guardian or relative.
• a declaration signed by the person who will be responsible for you in Australia.
• Form 1257 Undertaking declaration. This form can be found here.
3. Evidence of enrollment at school, college or university.

• Form 1229 Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years. All travelers will need a passport valid for at least 90 days following your departure date from Australia. However, we strongly recommend traveling with 6 months validity on your passport at all times. Citizens of Canada can refer to www.canada.ca for forms and instructions for new passport applications and Canadian passport renewals. Most destinations, including Australia, require that you have adequate unused pages in your passport, allowing for any necessary stamps upon arrival and departure. We recommend that you have at least two free pages in Visas section of your passport before any international travel. Canadian citizens cannot add extra passport pages to their passports.
